The Buzz
At an early age, I noticed how people reacted and interacted with my sister. My beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed, built-in best friend, Brooke, was born with an extra copy of her 21st chromosome...Down syndrome. As several realities became apparent, the most impactful observation was that people minimized Brooke’s value because of her disability. While social awareness of people with special needs has come a long way, significant discrimination and misunderstanding still exists. I decided to turn my sense of frustration into a fierce passion to educate my community, promote inclusion, and teach people to be the ONE person to stand up for others.

Be a Friend.
One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and be understood.

Educate.
There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more.
-Robert M. Hensel

Empower.
We have the can-do factor, and us doing what we do inspires people to just try that little bit harder, whether they are able-bodied or disabled.
– Lee Pearson
